Over the past few years, our volleyball community has been growing in numbers and in comaraderie, and the result has been memorable large-group road trips to Popular National Volleyball Tournaments. All year long we listen to stories of competition and debauchery that has occured at tournaments like Fud's, Motherlode,and the US Open, and those that have participated have enough memories and laughs for a lifetime. Once again we look forward to offering as many players as possible the opportunity to make one of these memorable roadtrips, where the qualifying events help players cover the cost of airfare and entry fee.

 

One of the more rewarding projects I have been associated with, over my 25 years in the Volleyball Business, is the relationship and reputation we have earned with the US Open of Beach Volleyball. Over the past 3 years we have seen our entourage grow from the original 10 players in 2007, to 22 in 2008, to an impressive group of 36 players sponsored by No Soxx in Manhattan Beach in 2009.

 

This years event returns to Manhattan Beach on Sept 17-19 and although exceeding last years total will be a challenge, it's one that we'd like to take. There will be numerous opportunities to win the airfare and entry fee package at Sideouts and Backyard Beach Bar, both leagues and tournaments.

 

In order to take as many players as possible to California, once a player has won the stipend, that player will not be allowed to play in furthur leagues or qualifiers, therefore giving additional players a chance to win each respective event. Some events will feature more competitive fields than others. In theory, by the last qualifier of the year all of the top players should already be qualified and not eligible for the final event, but last year just the opposite happened. The final event of the year (Co-ed 2's) was the most competitive and largest of the season. Therefore, don't procrastinate !

If you would like to take your best chance to win this trip/tournament, enter one of the Wed 2's Leagues early in the year. Our Tournament qualifiers will feature both 2's and 4's.

Sideouts Volleybar (formerly Lone Star)

$70/team--5 weeks of doubleheaders plus playoffs

Winner of each division gets airfare & entry fee for this years US Open

 

We should have the time to complete 2 full leagues before mid-August.

 

Open Gender 4's

Backyard Beach Bar (date TBD)

 

Sideouts Qualifier

Sat Aug 7---same gender 2's & 4's

Sun Aug 8--Co-ed 2's & 4's
